Review: GHD Deluxe Midnight Collection

I’ve never actually owned a pair of GHD’S (sad, I know!) So I have always wondered what all the fuss is about.  Everywhere I go the number one straighter always seems to be a GHD! I was more than happy when I was sent one to trial.. if anything it has really helped out my overly curious mind as to why these straighteners are so special!

The GHD Deluxe Midnight Collection is one of those Limited Edition sets that are always released by GHD this time of the year! It’s a very Chique set that comes with plenty of accessories and add on’s including a cute little hair dryer. It is the perfect Christmas present!! *cough, cough GHD.. you can pay me later*

Right so now.. Shamefully may I add I am going to show you what I have been working with! I will probably have the piss taken out of me something chronic for showing you guys this, however I have to be honest! Here are the straighteners I use-

A very old pair of Morphy Richards straighteners. The ceramic plates are non existent and after using the GHD’s I have released these take FOREVER to sort my barnet out!! Usually when using these it takes at least 20 mins to do my short hair! Can you imagine what I went through when I had hair down to my ass?? OMG!!

Moving on, I love the sleek design of these GHD’s, all black with gold ceramic plates.

So.. How did I get on with them you ask? well… I am now starting to understand the hype which surrounds these Iconic straighteners! When it comes down to my hair, I’m rather lucky. I have overly thick wavy/curly hair which can be worn either straight if I straighten it or curly if I let it dry naturally and slap some product on it. However, having thick hair can be a right pain in the ass when you need to straighten it. Using these straighteners was a breeze, my styling time was cut down to half compared to my Morphy Richards Irons but what confuses me the most is im not sure how and why these are so good. After turning them on and getting the two beeps to go ahead and start styling I honestly thought they were broken, there was no heat coming off them at all! When I placed my hair in them the ceramic plates were so smooth that it felt like the straighteners hadn’t even gripped my hair and almost felt like my hair had slipped right out of them, I was surprised to look in the mirror to find a perfectly piece of straight hair which did NOT need going over again unlike my Morphy Richards, which I have to use 3 times to even get a straight piece of hair! In all very impressed. You cannot feel the heat at all nor is there steam which escapes from the straightener, these straighteners are indeed magic. I think it’s the time and effort that goes into the technology that makes them so special.

Here’s a pic of my very shiny and smooth hair-

I have had my GHD’s for 8 years come next January and it’s only now that I think they’re fizzling out a bit, I haven’t used them like I used to for ages. I’ve been embracing the curl but my hair is crying out for a bit of GHD loving.

I really like their ads too, so decadent and different every single year.
