If you’ve been lucky enough to get tickets for the London 2012 Olympics then you are sure to have been cheering and waving flags to support your country. There are various other ways you can show your support for your country’s athletes, like wearing the national flag on your shirt or holding up a banner, but have you thought about glamming-up your fingers with some creative Olympic-inspired nail art?
The great thing about this design is that you can easily accessorize it with jewellery like gold rings from Seventy Seven Diamonds or even bracelets in blue, yellow, black, green and red to represent to interlocking Olympic hoops. Below is a step by step guide to making your own Olympic nail art design.
Step 1 – Wash your hands and soak your fingertips in warm water before trimming your cuticles.
Step 2- Carefully file your nails into a nice rounded shape and clean underneath your nails.
Step 3 – Then paint your nails (excluding your thumbs) in a shimmering gold nail polish and leave to dry for five minutes before topping with a second coat. Paint your thumbs in a plain white nail polish.
Step 4 – Find a picture of the Olympic hoops and print off 2 very tiny images of them. They must be small enough to fit on your thumbnails. Make sure you print them off on white paper and cut them out neatly.
Step 5 – Paint a layer of clear polish on your thumbs and press the tiny picture onto your nail. Paint another layer of clear polish over the picture to stick it down. To ensure the transfer stays on your nail, paint on another clear layer and spray with hairspray to give all of your nails a shiny finish.
