Estee Lauder have gone pastal crazy this spring with the new ‘Heavy Petals Collection’.
“In Nail there is a lot of fantasy and colour and nothing is more rich in colour and sensation than Paris in Spring. For this collection, I thought of amazing bouquets from the flower markets, the pretty pastels of children’s carousels and the pops of colour from macaroons.” Says Tom Pecheux ‘Creative Makeup Director’.
My favourite has to be ‘Narcissist’ its a lovely warm and natural shade that screams spring to me, which is your fave?
If you’ve been lucky enough to get tickets for the London 2012 Olympics then you are sure to have been cheering and waving flags to support your country. There are various other ways you can show your support for your country’s athletes, like wearing the national flag on your shirt or holding up a banner, but have you thought about glamming-up your fingers with some creative Olympic-inspired nail art?
The great thing about this design is that you can easily accessorize it with jewellery like gold rings from Seventy Seven Diamonds or even bracelets in blue, yellow, black, green and red to represent to interlocking Olympic hoops. Below is a step by step guide to making your own Olympic nail art design.
Step 1 – Wash your hands and soak your fingertips in warm water before trimming your cuticles.
Step 2- Carefully file your nails into a nice rounded shape and clean underneath your nails.
Step 3 – Then paint your nails (excluding your thumbs) in a shimmering gold nail polish and leave to dry for five minutes before topping with a second coat. Paint your thumbs in a plain white nail polish.
Step 4 – Find a picture of the Olympic hoops and print off 2 very tiny images of them. They must be small enough to fit on your thumbnails. Make sure you print them off on white paper and cut them out neatly.
Step 5 – Paint a layer of clear polish on your thumbs and press the tiny picture onto your nail. Paint another layer of clear polish over the picture to stick it down. To ensure the transfer stays on your nail, paint on another clear layer and spray with hairspray to give all of your nails a shiny finish.
These nail pots from YSL are on the top of my favourite list at the moment, especially the ‘Beige Leger’ shade. I particularly like the brush which paints the nail in one even stroke because of its fan like nature, I’m kicking myself for not taking a shot of the brush for you guys. Anyhoo, the lasting power is quite impressive and these two shades are divine!

I LOVE this new shade from Nails Inc, in the bottle it looks like such a dull colour but just look at the shine, it paints on so well and lasts forever. I’m so sick of samey pink shades so I thought i’d give this ago. Good choice me thinks :p

‘Vernis In Love’ are the new nail polishes bought to us by Lancome. The nail pot is petite with a timeless modern design which features a see through bottom, long square top and the famous Lancome flower logo stamped in the top right corner of the glass bottle.
For such a tiny small bottle I was absolutely shocked at the brush, its a a very thin brush that fans to the shape of your entire nail for precise application it really is nothing short of amazing! I found the brush contoured my nail perfectly and there was minimal side mess to tidy up.
Formulation of the polish is great, two thin coats does the trick and the drying time is amazingly quick, only downer for me was the finish, I would have liked it to be a little more glossier however a top coat can easily fix that problem.
What do you think of the Vernis In Love swatches, have you got any polishes from this collection?

Avon’s new nailwear pro polishes come in an array of colours and finishes, I received this gorgeous box with a fabulous selection a few weeks back and have been having a play with the colours. The brush is super thin and contours the around the nail nicely and the finish is very professional. It’s said the polish lasts up to 10 days, unfortunately for me it didn’t however it did last up to 5 days with no chips .
Have you tried any of the Nailwear pro colours?
The Pixi Glow palette is absolutely gorgeous, the colours are very wearable and build-able. I didn’t expect the makeup to be so saturated. I find myself reaching for this palette quite regularly as the shadow colours are very natural with the exactly the right amount of shimmer. The Palette retails at £32.
Beaming Reflection crayon (£12) is a beige gold colour with an absolutely amazing sheen.Perfect to use on eyes and cheek bones.
Pixi 2nd Star Twinkle eyeliner (£8.50) is a gorgeous khaki gold eye liner which has the most amazing staying power. The eyeliner can be easily built up to a more heavier look.
Pixi Fairy Dust – Moonlight Luster (£10) is white with gold speckles dust which has a useful multi purpose use to it.
In all the Pixi Glow collection is a great collection with some amazing colours and formulations. Only downer for me is the packaging, which to me is very child like and because the collaboration is with Disney, I can imagine this collection would definitely attract a younger audience more than an older one.
